Jaguars' Hunter Long: Won't face Texans
Long (hip/knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Texans.
The Jaguars will be without both Long and Brenton Strange (quadriceps), who is still on IR. Johnny Mundt likely will get most of the snaps, with Quintin Morris on hand in a depth role. Jacksonville may elevate one or both of Jordan Akins and Patrick Herbert from the practice squad as well.

Jaguars' Hunter Long: Missing another practice
Long (hip/knee) is not participating in practice Thursday, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union reports.
Long is missing a second consecutive practice, making his status for Week 10 cloudy. With Brenton Strange (quadriceps) still on IR, Johnny Mundt and Quintin Morris will operate as Jacksonville's top tight ends versus Houston on Sunday if Long is unavailable. Jordan Akins and Patrick Herbert would also be candidates to be elevated from the practice squad.

Jaguars' Hunter Long: Sits out practice Wednesday
Long (hip/knee) is not participating in the early portion of Wednesday's practice open to the media, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.comreports.
Long remains positioned as Jacksonville's incumbent top tight end with Brenton Strange (quadriceps) not expected to come off IR until Week 11 at the earliest. However, due to a pair of injuries, Long's status now also appears uncertain for Sunday's road matchup against the Texans. He briefly exited Jacksonville's narrow win over the Raiders in Week 9 as a result of his hip and knee injuries but managed to retake the field and finish with a 66 percent snap share on offense.

Jaguars' Hunter Long: Does little on three targets
Long secured one of three targets for six yards during Sunday's 30-29 win against the Raiders.
The 27-year-old led Jacksonville's tight ends with a 66 percent snap share despite briefly exiting Sunday's contest due to hip and knee injuries. Long is operating as Jacksonville's No. 1 tight end with Brenton Strange (quadriceps) still on the mend, but he has just five receptions on nine targets for 41 yards since Strange landed on IR.

Jaguars' Hunter Long: Cleared to return vs. Vegas
Long (hip/knee) was cleared to return to Sunday's game against the Raiders, per the Fox NFL broadcast.
Long briefly left Sunday's game after sustaining hip and knee injuries, but he was cleared to return after being evaluated by medical staff. The fifth-year tight end is making his second start of the regular season after Brenton Strange (quadriceps) was placed on injured reserve Oct. 10.

Jaguars' Hunter Long: Leaves with lower-body injuries
Long (hip/knee) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Raiders, John Oehser of the Jaguars' official site reports.
Long sustained hip and knee injuries while hauling in a 24-yard pass from Trevor Lawrence midway through the second quarter, which was negated by a penalty. The Jaguars are already without Brenton Strange (quadriceps - IR) and Quintin Morris (groin) for Week 9. If Long is not cleared to return, that would leave Johnny Mundt as the only healthy tight end on the active roster for the rest of Sunday's contest.

Jaguars' Hunter Long: Disappoints in starting role
Long caught two of three targets for 16 yards in Sunday's 35-7 loss to the Rams.
With Brenton Strange (IR, hip) sidelined due to an injury, Long operated as the Jaguars' No. 1 tight end in the Week 7 loss. However, the increase in playing time didn't translate to production, as Long finished Sunday's contest with the sixth-most targets (three) and receiving yards (16) on the team. The 27-year-old is expected to remain Jacksonville's top tight end until Strange returns from injured reserve, but that likely won't yield significant fantasy value. His next opportunity to take the field will likely come in Week 9 against the Raiders.

Jaguars' Hunter Long: Sees season-high in playing time
Long caught one pass for three yards in the Jaguars' win over the Chiefs on Monday night.
With Brenton Strange (hip) missing the second half of Monday's win, Long was the biggest beneficiary in terms of playing time, as he logged a season-high 60 percent of the offensive snaps. Long did little with the added playing time and has a 7-44-2 receiving line on eight targets across five games this season.

Jaguars' Hunter Long: Nabs touchdown in Week 4
Long caught all three of his targets for 23 yards and one touchdown in Sunday's 26-21 win over the 49ers.
Long has now caught five of six targets for 35 yards and a touchdown over the past two weeks while playing just 35 offensive snaps. Although the 27-year-old played fewer snaps (21) than Johnny Mundt (22) in Week 4, he appears to be emerging as Jacksonville's top reserve vertical-threat tight end. Long will likely retain a similar role in the Jaguars' Week 5 matchup with the Chiefs, working behind Brenton Strange.

Jaguars' Hunter Long: Two grabs vs. Houston
Long caught two of three targets for 12 yards during Sunday's 17-10 win over the Texans.
The 27-year-old played 14 offensive snaps in Jacksonville's Week 3 win, more than doubling his total from the first two games combined (seven). Despite his increase in snaps, Long still operated as the Jaguars' No. 3 tight end, playing behind Johnny Mundt (18 offensive snaps) and Brenton Strange (54 offensive snaps). Long is expected to remain a depth option in the Jags' tight-end room ahead of a Week 4 matchup against the 49ers.

Jaguars' Hunter Long: Back at practice
Long (ankle) returned to a limited practice Thursday, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union reports.
Long was listed as DNP on Wednesday, but his return to the field Thursday would indicate he has a chance to play Sunday against the Texans. Long has played seven offensive snaps through two games, catching his lone target for a six-yard touchdown.

Jaguars' Hunter Long: Pops up on injury report
Long (ankle) did not practice Wednesday.
Long has played primarily on special teams through two weeks of the season, and he handled a normal allotment of snaps in Week 2. As a result, it's unclear when he suffered the injury, though he'll have the chance to get on the field twice more before Jacksonville takes on the Texans in Week 3.

Jaguars' Hunter Long: Hauls in first touchdown
Long caught his lone target for a six-yard touchdown during Sunday's 26-10 win against the Panthers.
The 27-year-old played just seven offensive snaps but cashed in for his first NFL touchdown during the second quarter. Johnny Mundt played 50 percent of the offensive snaps as Jacksonville's No. 2 tight end, so Long appears entrenched as the team's third tight end.

Jaguars' Hunter Long: Could win backup job
Long has made some standout plays early in training camp and appears to have the inside track to the No. 2 tight end job, John Shipley of SI.com reports.
The 26-year-old inked a two-year, $5 million contract with Jacksonville in March and has had a strong start to camp, giving him an early edge over Johnny Mundt (upper body) for the backup job to starting tight end Brenton Strange. Long failed to have much of an impact across his first three NFL seasons, but he played in all 17 regular-season games for the Rams last year and caught seven passes for 60 yards.

Jaguars' Hunter Long: Back at practice
Long (undisclosed) participated in Sunday's training camp practice, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports.
Long suffered an unspecified injury during this past Tuesday's practice, but he has recovered enough to return to the field for Sunday's session. The 2021 third-rounder signed a two-year contract with the Jaguars in March after spending the past two seasons with the Rams. Long is competing with Johnny Mundt (upper body) and Quintin Morris for backup tight end duties behind projected starter Brenton Strange.
