Skowronek (hip) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Skowronek opened the Steelers' week of practice as a limited participant after missing the team's Christmas Day loss to the Chiefs. However, he upgraded to full participation Wednesday, suggesting he's since recovered from his hip injury. The 27-year-old is likely to serve as a depth piece in Pittsburgh's wide receiver room in the Week 18 matchup against the Bengals.

Steelers' Ben Skowronek: On track to return for Week 18

Skowronek missed last Wednesday's Week 17 game against Kansas City due to a hip issue, but head coach Mike Tomlin indicated Monday that the fourth-year wideout is expected to be back for Saturday's matchup versus the Bengals. A limited practice session to open the week opens the door for that to happen, and the wideout's participation level Wednesday and Thursday should provide further clarity. If he does suit up Saturday, Skowronek will likely take on his usual depth role among the Steelers' wide-receiver corps.

Steelers' Ben Skowronek: Won't play against Kansas City
Skowronek (hip) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Chiefs, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Skowronek suffered a hip injury during Pittsburgh's Week 16 loss to Baltimore this past Saturday. While he was able to return to that contest, the injury prevented him from participating in Monday's walkthrough and Tuesday's practice, and the 2021 seventh-round pick will be sidelined for Christmas Day. Skowronek's next opportunity to play will be in the Steelers' regular-season finale against the Bengals on Sunday, Jan. 5.

Steelers' Ben Skowronek: May not play in Week 17
Head coach Mike Tomlin said Sunday that he's uncertain if Skowronek (hip) will be ready to play in the team's Week 17 game against the Chiefs on Wednesday, Missi Matthews of the Steelers' official site reports.
Skowronek injured his hip in the first half of Saturday's 34-17 loss to the Ravens, though he was cleared to return to the contest. He finished with two receptions for 25 yards on two targets in the loss. Despite getting the green light to check back into Sunday's contest, Skowronek may be hurting now that the adrenaline has worn off. More clarity on his status for the Christmas Day game should come when the Steelers release injury reports Monday and Tuesday.

The Steelers activated Skowronek (shoulder) off injured reserve Saturday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Skowronek was elevated from the practice squad to the active roster each of the first two weeks of the season, and he was then signed to the active roster in mid-September. However, the wideout was immediately placed on IR upon the signing. Skowronek was designated to return earlier this week, and with his activation, he could return to the field Sunday against Washington. If he is active for the contest, Skowronek probably won't see much work on offense given that Pittsburgh's wideout corps is largely healthy and that he didn't see a target during either of the two games he has been active for so far this season.

Skowronek was elevated from the practice squad for each of Pittsburgh's first two games but hasn't had much of a role in the offense. His move to injured reserve will keep him sidelined for at least the next four weeks but, presumably, he'll be a part of the 53-man roster once he's healthy after his signing to the active roster Wednesday.

Skowronek has been elevated from the Steelers' practice squad each of the first two weeks of the season. However, that has mostly led to a special teams role, as he's only seen six snaps on offense. This injury could impact his role this Sunday against the Chargers and keep him on the practice squad, as Calvin Austin (undisclosed) and Roman Wilson (ankle) deal with injuries as well. Pittsburgh currently has Quez Watkins, Brandon Johnson and Shaquan Davis as options at receiver on their practice squad, too.

Skowronek played all ten of his snaps on special teams during the Steelers' win at Atlanta in Week 1. It looks like the Steelers aspire to be a run-heavy offense in 2024 as long as game script allows, so there probably won't be many weeks where Pittsburgh pass catchers not named George Pickens draw enough target volume for fantasy consideration in most leagues.
