Lions' Carlton Davis: Not in line to return this season
Lions head coach Dan Campbell said Tuesday that Davis (jaw) is not expected to return from IR during the playoffs, Nolan Bianchi of The Detroit News reports.
Davis remains on IR due to a fractured jaw suffered Week 15, and his chances of returning for a late playoff push had never looked too optimistic. The veteran cornerback, who is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, will focus on returning to full health. Across 13 regular-season appearances, Davis tallied 56 tackles (42 solo), 11 passes defensed (including two interceptions), one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.

Lions' Carlton Davis: Return this season looking bleak
Head coach Dan Campbell said he's not feeling good about the chance of Davis (jaw) returning this season, including for the playoffs, Justin Rogers of DetroitFootball.net reports.
Davis was placed on injured reserve this past Tuesday after fracturing his jaw in this past weekend's loss to the Bills. Though the veteran cornerback's surgery timeline originally left open the chance of a return for a possible NFC Championship Game, he's now likely to be done for any further games Detroit plays, including the playoffs. Davis logged 56 tackles (42 solo), 11 passes defended (including two interceptions) and one forced fumble across 13 games this year.

Lions' Carlton Davis: Goes on injured reserve
Detroit placed Davis (jaw) on injured reserve Tuesday.
As expected, Davis will go on injured reserve after fracturing his jaw during Sunday's 48-42 loss to Buffalo. The 2018 second-round pick is expected to be sidelined for at least six weeks once he undergoes surgery to address the injury, which opens the door for him to return for the NFC Championship Game if the Lions make it that far in the playoffs. With Davis and Khalil Dorsey (ankle) on IR, Kindle Vildor is expected to step into the second starting outside corner role opposite Terrion Arnold.

Lions' Carlton Davis: Out six weeks with broken jaw
Davis is expected to be miss at least six weeks after sustaining a fractured jaw during Sunday's 48-42 loss to the Bills, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, Davis will undergo surgery to address the injury, but if the reported six-week timeline holds up, the cornerback could be ready to return for the NFC Championship Game, if the Lions advance that far in the postseason. With Khalil Dorsey (ankle) also sustaining a season-ending injury Sunday, the Lions are likely to turn to Kindle Vildor to fill a starting role at cornerback beginning with their Week 16 game at Chicago.
