Top Hawks News

  • Hawks' Zaccharie Risacher: Goes for 19 points Saturday

Risacher notched 19 points (7-14 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound, four assists and two steals in 27 minutes during Saturday's 122-102 win over the Lakers.

Risacher was one of the top scorers for the Hawks in this upset win over the Lakers thanks to an efficient performance, but the second-year forward also made his presence felt as a playmaker and defender in this contest. Risacher endured a relatively slow start to the season but has been turning things around of late, surpassing the 15-point plateau in his last three games, a span during which he's also gone 7-for-20 from three-point range.

  • Hawks' Dyson Daniels: Sniffs triple-double in win

Daniels racked up 10 points (5-8 FG), eight rebounds, 13 assists and one steal in 36 minutes during Saturday's 122-102 win over the Lakers.

Daniels was one of the players who needed to step up for Atlanta due to the absences of Trae Young (knee), Jalen Johnson (quadriceps) and Kristaps Porzingis (illness). That's exactly what he did, as the 22-year-old guard was impressive on both ends of the court and finished just two rebounds away from posting a triple-double. Daniels has also turned things around on offense following a slow start to the season and now has scored in double digits in all but one of his last five outings.

  • Hawks' Onyeka Okongwu: Fills stat sheet admirably Saturday

Okongwu ended with 12 points (6-14 FG, 0-3 3Pt), eight rebounds, four assists, two blocks and three steals in 32 minutes during Saturday's 122-102 victory over the Lakers.

Mouhamed Gueye had the best game of his career in this upset win Saturday, but Okongu's contributions were impressive as well. The big man got the start at center due to the absence of Kristaps Porzingis (illness) and made the most of the opportunity. Okongwu has gone five straight games without a double-double, a feat he hasn't accomplished since Oct. 29, but he remains productive due to how easy he makes it look on both ends of the court. His ability to fill the stat sheet admirably makes him a valuable fantasy option in all formats, but even more so when he's starting.

  • Hawks' Mouhamed Gueye: Leads Atlanta in start

Gueye amassed 21 points (8-12 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), seven rebounds, seven assists, two steals and one block across 34 minutes in Saturday's 122-102 win over the Lakers.

Gueye got the starting nod for the injury-plagued Hawks, posting a team- and career-high 21 points. He also knocked down four three-pointers for just the second time in his career. Additionally, the 22-year-old dished out a career-high mark in assists after totaling eight in his first nine regular-season appearances. He'll likely continue to provide a spark off the bench, though Gueye is a likely candidate to step into the starting five whenever Jalen Johnson (quadriceps) is sidelined.

  • Hawks' Mouhamed Gueye: Back in starting lineup

Gueye is in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Lakers, Law Murray of The Athletic reports.

The Hawks will be without several key players in the frontcourt, such as Kristaps Porzingis (illness) and Jalen Johnson (quadriceps), so Gueye will step into a starting role. In his lone start this season, Gueye posted 11 points, six rebounds, two assists and two blocks across 23 minutes in a loss to the Thunder on Oct. 25.

  • Hawks' Keaton Wallace: Starting Saturday

Wallace will start in Saturday's game against the Lakers, Law Murray of The Athletic reports.

With Trae Young (knee), Luke Kennard (illness) and Nickeil Alexander-Walker (back) all sidelined, Wallace will get the starting nod for the first time this season. Over his last five regular-season appearances, the 26-year-old point guard has averaged 5.0 points, 3.6 assists and 2.4 rebounds in 13.4 minutes per game. He is expected to see a significant bump in playing time Saturday.

  • Hawks' Onyeka Okongwu: Starting Saturday

Okongwu is in the Hawks' starting lineup against the Lakers on Saturday, Law Murray of The Athletic reports.

Okongwu will make his third start of the regular season Saturday due to the absence of Kristaps Porzingis (illness). Okongwu is averaging 13.1 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.1 assist and 0.9 blocks over 28.8 minutes per game this season.

  • Hawks' Nickeil Alexander-Walker: Out Saturday

Alexander-Walker (back) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Lakers, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.

Alexander-Walker will miss his first game of the season due to a back issue, and his next opportunity to play will come Monday against the Clippers. With the 27-year-old swingman joining Trae Young (knee) and Luke Kennard (illness) on the sidelines, Keaton Wallace and Vit Krejci are expected to see increased minutes against Los Angeles.

  • Hawks' Jalen Johnson: Ruled out for Saturday

Johnson (quad) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Lakers, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker (back) and Luke Kennard (illness) will join Johnson on the sidelines Saturday night, so the majority of the playmaking responsibilities could be heaved upon Dyson Daniels. Mouhamed Gueye will have a chance to start with Johnson inactive, giving him some streaming appeal. Johnson's next chance to play will come Monday against the Clippers.

  • Hawks' Jalen Johnson: Questionable for Saturday

Johnson is questionable for Saturday's matchup against the Lakers due to a bruised right quadriceps.

This is a new injury for Johnson, who has appeared in all but one game this season and is averaging 20.6 points, 8.4 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.4 steals. If he's forced to miss Saturday's game, more minutes and usage could be in store for Vit Krejci, Mouhamed Gueye and other frontcourt players, especially since Kristaps Porzingis (illness) has already been ruled out.

  • Hawks' Nikola Durisic: Won't play Saturday

Durisic (elbow) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Lakers, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.

Durisic has yet to play a game this season. The next chance for him to make his season debut will be Monday against the Clippers.

  • Hawks' Nickeil Alexander-Walker: Questionable for Saturday

Alexander-Walker (back) is questionable for Saturday's game against the Lakers, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.

Alexander-Walker is dealing with a back issue, which could keep him sidelined. If he's ultimately ruled out, the team will likely turn to Keaton Wallace and Vit Krejci to help shoulder the load in the backcourt.

  • Hawks' Luke Kennard: Remains out Saturday

Kennard (illness) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Lakers, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.

Kennard will miss a second straight game due to an illness. The team will likely pivot to Vit Krejci and Keaton Wallace to shoulder the load in the backcourt.

  • Hawks' Kristaps Porzingis: Won't play Saturday

Porzingis (illness) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Lakers, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.

Porzingis will miss a game for the third time this season while dealing with an illness. In his absence, the team will likely turn to Onyeka Okongwu, Mouhamed Gueye and N'Faly Dante to fill the void in the frontcourt.

  • Hawks' Dyson Daniels: Season-high eight assists

Daniels posted seven points (2-10 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, eight assists, one block and two steals in 35 minutes during Friday's 109-97 loss to Toronto.

Daniels contributed a season-high eight assists, continuing to ramp up his production in the wake of the knee injury to Trae Young. He had also scored 18 points in each of the three contests prior to Friday, an indication that he will indeed be more involved offensively. Through nine games, he is averaging 9.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.4 steals in 32.7 minutes per contest.

... See More ... See Less
  • Hawks' Vit Krejci: Fails to score in loss

Krejci posted zero points (0-3 FG, 0-3 3Pt), four rebounds and two assists across 18 minutes during Friday's 109-97 loss to the Raptors.

Krejci missed all three of his shot attempts, failing to score for the first time this season. Even at this early stage in the season, Atlanta is running with a relatively shallow rotation on most nights. Krejci appears to be considered a nightly piece at this stage, albeit an unimpactful one.

... See More ... See Less
  • Hawks' Jalen Johnson: Tallies team-high 21 points

Johnson closed Friday's 109-97 loss to Toronto with 21 points (8-14 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 3-3 FT), seven rebounds, four assists and one steal across 33 minutes.

Johnson led the way for the Hawks with 21 points, scoring at least 20 for the fifth time in the past six games. With Trae Young sidelined due to a knee injury, Johnson has been tasked with additional responsibility on the offensive end. While this has resulted in increased production, he also has 13 turnovers in the past three games. Johnson appeared to suffer a knock to his knee late in the fourth quarter. While he was able to close the game, it might be worth keeping an eye on the injury report ahead of Saturday's game against the Lakers.
