Brewers' Josh Knoth: Out for 2025
Knoth underwent Tommy John surgery during the offseason and will miss the entire 2025 campaign, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Knoth spent his entire first season as a pro with Single-A Carolina, finishing with a 4.48 ERA and 1.40 WHIP alongside a 96:40 K:BB over 84.1 innings. However, he spent the final month of the year on the injured list due to an elbow injury that will ultimately cost him another whole season. The 19-year-old right-hander will now spend the next several months recovering from the procedure before turning his focus to returning sometime in 2026.

Brewers' Christian Yelich: Confident in Opening Day return
Yelich (back) said Saturday that "there's no reason to think he won't be ready for Opening Day," Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Yelich still isn't quite at 100 percent after undergoing a microdiscectomy procedure in August to address a herniated disc in his lower back, but he noted Saturday that he's on schedule in his rehab. He likely won't be ready for game action once the Cactus League schedule begins, but he should be able to get into a few games later this spring, at which point we'll have a better idea of how his oft-injured back is holding up.

Brewers' Abner Uribe: Going slow
Uribe will go slow as he comes back from right knee surgery, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
He underwent surgery to repair a lateral miniscus tear in mid-June of 2024. This is a vague report, but it sounds like Uribe's status is questionable for Opening Day. Brewers closer Trevor Megill is dealing with an undisclosed injury, so if Uribe can get up to speed and Megill's injury lingers, Uribe could figure into the ninth-inning mix.

Brewers' Trevor Megill: Delayed by undisclosed injury
Megill has been pushed back at the outset of spring training due to some minor health issues in recent throwing sessions, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Manager Pat Murphy said Megill seems "fine," per McCalvy, but Megill is dealing with something that is preventing him from ramping up on a normal schedule this spring. While Megill's delayed schedule could end up being a non-issue, fantasy managers should still view him as a higher-risk option than he was prior to pitchers and catchers reporting. Abner Uribe (knee) is being brought along slowly, so 30-year-old Joel Payamps may be best suited to step up in the ninth inning if Megill is unable to get up to speed by Opening Day.

Brewers' Robert Gasser: Placed on 60-day IL
The Brewers placed Gasser (elbow) on the 60-day injured list Wednesday.
A 40-man roster spot needed to be freed up for Tyler Alexander, who inked a one-year deal Wednesday. Gasser had Tommy John surgery last July, and manager Pat Murphy said that the Brewers aren't anticipating the southpaw making his 2025 debut until late August or early September, per Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Brewers' Tyler Alexander: Links up with Milwaukee
The Brewers signed Alexander to a one-year contract Wednesday.
Alexander was non-tendered by the Rays earlier this offseason but has managed to land on his feet with a major-league deal in Milwaukee. The left-hander split time between the rotation and bullpen last season with Tampa Bay, finishing with a 5.10 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 90:24 K:BB across 107.2 innings. The Brewers will have a vacancy in their rotation if Brandon Woodruff (shoulder) isn't ready to start the season, but it seems likelier that Alexander will wind up in the bullpen or perhaps a swingman role.

Brewers' Jeferson Quero: Expected to play this spring
Manager Pat Murphy said Wednesday that he expects Quero (shoulder) to be playing in Cactus League games at some point this spring, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Quero had surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder last April but estimated Wednesday that he's at "75 to 80 percent" physically. The catching prospect was limited to just one game with Triple-A Nashville before getting injured and is likely headed back to Nashville to begin the 2025 campaign.

Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Confirmed as Opening Day starter
Manager Pat Murphy said Wednesday that Peralta will start Opening Day, March 27 against the Yankees, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Peralta will presumably be opposed by Gerrit Cole, although the Yankees have not yet confirmed as much. It will be the second straight Opening Day assignment for Peralta, who collected a 3.68 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 200:68 K:BB over 173.2 innings covering 32 starts during the 2024 regular season.

Brewers' DL Hall: Recovering from lat strain
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Wednesday that Hall is recovering from a lat strain and won't throw for two weeks before being re-evaluated, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Hall had been expected to compete for a rotation spot in spring training after he worked out of the bullpen toward the end of his first season in Milwaukee, but the lat injury looks as though it could foil those plans. Even if the southpaw is cleared to resume throwing by the end of February, he would likely need at least a few weeks to get stretched out for starting duty before the season gets underway March 27. With that in mind, a relief role may represent Hall's clearest path to making the Opening Day roster, if he doesn't instead require a stint on the injured list.

Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Facing hitters Friday
Woodruff (shoulder) will face hitters Friday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
It will mark Woodruff's first time facing hitters since he underwent surgery in October of 2023 to repair the anterior capsule in his right shoulder. While Woodruff is considered a full participant at the beginning of spring training, he acknowledged that his buildup will be slower than other pitchers'. The expectation is that he will need a stint on the injured list to begin the season, but more clarity on the righty's timetable should be available later in spring training.

Brewers' Anthony Seigler: Signs with Milwaukee as NRI
The Brewers signed Seigler to a minor-league contract Nov. 19 that includes an invitation to spring training.
Seigler was a first-round pick of the Yankees back in 2018 but has yet to advance past the Double-A level, having slashed .234/.350/.398 with 12 homers and 29 steals at Double-A Somerset during the 2024 minor-league season. He was a full-time second baseman last season after primarily being a catcher previously. Seigler will likely begin the 2025 season at Triple-A Nashville.

Brewers' Christian Yelich: Opening Day not a given
Yelich (back) "has a chance" to be ready for Opening Day, but "it isn't a lock," Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Yelich underwent a microdiscectomy procedure in August to address a herniated disc in his lower back and will not be 100 percent at the beginning of spring training. His rehab has gone well to this point, but the big test will come when he ramps things up in workouts and games this spring. If Yelich does need a little time on the injured list to start the season, it could open up more playing time for Blake Perkins, Jake Bauers, Tyler Black and Isaac Collins, among others.

Brewers' Jake Bauers: Good chance to make roster
Bauers has a good chance of making the Brewers' Opening Day roster, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Bauers elected free agency after being removed from the Brewers' 40-man roster in November but found his way back to the club on a minor-league deal with an invite to spring training. Rhys Hoskins will open the season at the top of the Brewers' depth chart at first base, but there's not much behind him at the position and Hoskins should also see time at designated hitter. Bauers hit .199 with a 34.1 percent strikeout rate in 2024 but did swat 12 homers and steal 13 bases in 116 games.

Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Unlikely to be ready Opening Day
Brewers manager Pat Murphy indicated in a recent interview that he does not expect Woodruff (shoulder) to be ready by Opening Day, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Woodruff underwent surgery in October of 2023 to repair the anterior capsule in his right shoulder. His rehab had to be paused in August when he wasn't progressing as hoped, and while things have gone well with his recovery since then, he will be behind at the start of camp. A clearer timetable for when Woodruff will be ready for his season debut could be available at some point during spring training.

Brewers' Christian Yelich: Likely limited at start of camp
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said recently that he doesn't expect Yelich (back) to be 100 percent at the start of spring training, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Yelich underwent a microdiscectomy procedure in August to address a herniated disc in his lower back. His recovery has come along well and there doesn't seem to be any concern about his availability for Opening Day, but he will be brought along slowly in camp. Yelich was terrific last season before being shut down, slashing .315/.406/.504 with 11 home runs and 21 stolen bases over 73 contests.

Brewers' Jesus Liranzo: Nabs MiLB deal with Milwaukee
The Brewers signed Liranzo to a minor-league contract Jan. 21.
Liranzo has spent time on multiple 40-man rosters over the last few years but has yet to reach the major leagues. The right-handed reliever spent most of the 2024 season at Double-A Somerset in the Yankees organization, holding a 2.67 ERA and 39:11 K:BB over 30.1 innings.

Brewers' Tyler Jay: Back in Milwaukee as NRI
The Brewers signed Jay to a minor-league contract Monday that includes an invitation to spring training, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Jay was designated for assignment by both the Brewers and Mariners in January and is now back in the Milwaukee organization as a non-roster invitee. The left-handed reliever allowed five runs (four earned) over five appearances between the Mets and Brewers in 2024.
