  • Brewers' Caleb Durbin: Idle Thursday

Durbin isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Giants. Durbin has gone 6-for-23 with three RBI and four runs scored since making his MLB debut Friday. He'll now get his first day off of the season while Vinny Capra starts at the hot corner and bats eighth.

  • Brewers' Caleb Durbin: Notches first big-league homer

Durbin went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in a loss to the Giants on Monday. Durbin accounted for both of Milwaukee's runs in the contest with his two-run shot to left-center in the second inning. The rookie third baseman showed the ability to hit for a bit of power with 10 homers in 82 games in Triple-A last season, though speed is likely to be his calling card in the majors. Durbin has one theft to his name as a big-leaguer so far and has gone 3-for-15 through four contests.

  • Brewers' Caleb Durbin: Two knocks in debut

Durbin went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Friday's 5-3 win over the Athletics. This was Durbin's major-league debut, and he batted ninth while starting at third base. The 25-year-old prospect has a chance to get a long look at the hot corner given the Brewers' lack of other viable options there. At Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 2024, he logged 29 steals on 32 attempts while slashing .287/.396/.471 over 82 games. Durbin should be able to carve out some fantasy value in NL-only leagues at a minimum if he can be steady at the plate and swift on the basepaths during his first stint in the majors.

  • Brewers' Caleb Durbin: Officially called up

The Brewers recalled Durbin from Triple-A Nashville on Friday. Durbin entered spring training as the favorite to be Milwaukee's primary third baseman after being acquired from the Yankees this offseason in the Devin Williams trade, but he ended up beginning the campaign in the minors. The 25-year-old hit well to start the season at Nashville with two homers, three steals and a .278/.316/.481 slash line in 13 games, and he's now primed to make his MLB debut for the Brewers. Following the demotion of Oliver Dunn on Thursday, Durbin is poised to receive regular playing time at the hot corner.

  • Brewers' Caleb Durbin: En route to Milwaukee

The Brewers will recall Durbin from Triple-A Nashville on Friday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. The Brewers were left with a hole at third base after optioning Oliver Dunn to Nashville on Thursday, and it now appears that Durbin will take over as Milwaukee's primary starter at the hot corner once he officially joins the big-league club. The 25-year-old speedster has slashed .278/.316/.481 with two home runs, three RBI, 12 runs scored and three stolen bases through 58 minor-league plate appearances, and he's recorded a base hit in 11 of his 13 contests. His first game in Milwaukee will mark his MLB debut.

  • Brewers' Caleb Durbin: Relegated to minors

The Brewers optioned Durbin to Triple-A Nashville on Saturday. Durbin entered camp with a good chance to make the Opening Day roster and to possibly win a starting job in the infield. He slashed .250/.322/.404 with two homers, seven RBI, 12 runs scored and seven stolen bases across 17 games, but the Brewers will opt to give the 25-year-old a few more reps in Triple-A before he makes his MLB debut. With Durbin now in the minors, the Brewers may turn to Oliver Dunn or Vinny Capra to start at the hot corner.

  • Brewers' Caleb Durbin: Moving to Milwaukee

The Brewers acquired Durbin and Nestor Cortes from the Yankees on Friday in exchange for Devin Williams, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. The 24-year-old was added to New York's 40-man roster in November in order to protect him from the Rule 5 Draft and was expected to have "a big, big role" in the majors next season, per manager Aaron Boone, but he's instead been shipped out to bring an All-Star closer to the Bronx. Durbin was one of the Yankees' top prospects and should have an immediate path to playing time in Milwaukee following the departure of shortstop Willy Adames. Durbin features a high-contact, low-power bat and had an .867 OPS with 10 homers, 29 stolen bases, a 13.2 percent walk rate and 9.9 percent strikeout rate in 82 games at the Triple-A level in 2024.

  • Yankees' Caleb Durbin: Brought onto 40-man

The Yankees selected Durbin to their 40-man roster Tuesday. Manager Aaron Boone said last week that Durbin would play "a big, big role" for the Yankees in 2025, so it isn't too surprising to see the 24-year-old receive a 40-man spot ahead of December's Rule 5 Draft. Durbin slashed .287/.396/.471 with 10 home runs and 60 RBI at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre last season, and Boone's comments suggest he has a decent chance of making the Yankees' Opening Day roster.

  • Yankees' Caleb Durbin: Seen as integral piece next season

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Monday that Durbin is "going to play a big, big role for us this upcoming season," Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports. Durbin, who turns 25 in February, batted .287/.396/.471 with 10 home runs, 29 stolen bases and a 37:47 K:BB this season with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He also boasts a .934 OPS with four homers and 23 steals in 21 games so far during Arizona Fall League play. Durbin has played every position other than first base and catcher, but he spent most of his time in 2024 at second base and could be a candidate to start there for the Yankees in 2025. While not yet on the 40-man roster, Durbin is a shoo-in to be added to it this offseason in order to be protected from the Rule 5 Draft.

  • Yankees' Caleb Durbin: Returns from IL, heads to Double-A

Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre reinstated Durbin (hand) from its 60-day injured list Thursday and assigned him to Double-A Somerset. Durbin was slashing .299/.413/.458 with three home runs and 20 stolen bases in 46 games with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre before he was shelved in late May with a right hand injury. He made one rehab appearance with Single-A Tampa last Wednesday before Scranton/Wilkes-Barre opted to activate him a day later. Though Durbin has technically been assigned to Somerset and has gone 2-for-14 at the dish over his four starts at Double-A, he's essentially continuing his rehab assignment. Look for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to bring Durbin back once he has more time to build up at-bats with Somerset.

  • Yankees' Caleb Durbin: Shelved at Triple-A with hand injury

Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre placed Durbin on its 7-day injured list Friday with a right hand injury, Conor Foley of YES Network reports. Durbin suffered the injury Thursday, when he was hit in the hand by a pitch. According to Foley, Durbin was able to take part in defensive work the same day he landed on the IL, but he was sporting a protective brace on his injured right hand. Durbin was off to a strong start to the season for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, reaching base at a .413 clip while chipping in three home runs and 20 stolen bases in 215 plate appearances.
