Reds' Gavin Lux: Doubles twice in win
Lux went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a run scored and one RBI in Monday's win over St. Louis.
Lux singled and scored in the fourth inning before adding an RBI double in the sixth. He posted a .616 OPS through his first 16 games this season but has since turned a corner. Over his last 11 games, Lux has produced seven multi-hit performances -- including three straight -- to boost his season OPS to .911 through 105 plate appearances.

Reds' Gavin Lux: Sitting versus southpaw
Lux is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Rockies.
The 27-year-old started the previous five games (all against right-handed pitchers) but will sit Friday as lefty Kyle Freeland takes the mound for Colorado. Lux is in the midst of a nine-game hitting streak, during which he's gone 15-for-31 with a homer and 7:6 BB:K, and he figures to be back in there to face off against righty Antonio Senzatela on Saturday.

Reds' Gavin Lux: Runs hit streak to seven games
Lux went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 6-3 loss to the Marlins.
Lux was the lone Red to deliver with runners in scoring position -- the team was 1-for-10 in such situations -- when he launched a two-run home run as part of a three-run eighth inning. The homer was the first of the season for Lux, who extended a hit streak to seven games, during which he's 13-for-25 (.520) with three extra-base hits, six RBI, one steal and eight runs scored. Since injured teammates have returned, Lux has moved around the diamond, getting starts at third base, second base, DH and left field during the streak.

Reds' Gavin Lux: Makes first start at 3B
Lux started at third base and went 1-for-3 with a run scored in Wednesday's 5-3 loss to the Mariners.
With the Reds finally at full health in the infield and outfield, Lux made his first start of the season at third base. This was the primary position manger Terry Francona envisioned for the versatile Lux, but an injury to Austin Hays and Spencer Steer being limited to DH due to a shoulder forced Lux to left field for the early part of the season. Lux was eventually pinch hit for by Santiago Espinal in the eighth inning against Seattle lefty Gabe Speier. The former has a career line of .199/.277/.267 against southpaws, which suggests he may not be in the starting lineup when the Reds face lefties.

Reds' Gavin Lux: Perfect day at dish
Lux went 4-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI in Tuesday's win over Seattle.
Lux knocked four singles in the 8-4 victory, including RBI base knocks in the third and fifth innings. It was his third multi-hit performance of the season and first with more than two hits. Lux's OPS jumped from .616 to .710 through 17 games.

Reds' Gavin Lux: Lines up at second base again
Lux started at second base for a second straight game and went 2-for-4 with a double in Tuesday's 1-0 win over the Giants.
Lux filled in at second base for Matt McLain, who was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a hamstring injury that has kept him out of the lineup since last Thursday. Lux had been starting in left field in place of the injured Austin Hays (calf), who is nearing a return.

Reds' Gavin Lux: Covers second base in win
Lux started at second base and went 0-for-4 in Monday's 2-0 win over San Francisco.
Matt McLain's lingering hamstring injury has forced manager Terry Francona to use a fill-in second basemen the last four games. It was Lux's turn Monday after Santiago Espinal started the previous three contests. Until Monday, Lux was used exclusively in left field as a fill-in for Austin Hays (calf). He could rejoin the team on an upcoming homestand that begins Friday, which means Lux would be freer to move around the infield.

Reds' Gavin Lux: Sitting against lefty
Lux isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against Milwaukee.
The Reds will keep Lux and his career .554 OPS against left-handers on the bench Thursday with southpaw Nestor Cortes set to start on the mound for the Brewers. Santiago Espinal will get the nod in left field instead and bat eighth.

Reds' Gavin Lux: Batting cleanup in opener
Lux will start in left field and bat cleanup Thursday against the Giants.
With Austin Hays (calf) shelved, Lux slides into the lineup in the corner outfield and also gets a prime spot in the lineup, batting behind TJ Friedl, Matt McLain and Elly De La Cruz. Most of Lux's playing time could ultimately come at third base, but he's in line for regular reps in left field versus righties while Hays is out.

Reds' Gavin Lux: Fills in at left field
Lux started at left field in Tuesday's exhibition game against High-A Dayton.
Left field was expected to be the spot occupied by Austin Hays, but he was left out of the lineup due to a calf injury. Lux, who was exposed to the outfield during spring training, took over. It's unclear if Hays' injury will linger into Opening Day. A healthy Hays likely means Lux will lineup at third base of designated hitter. The latter can also spot in at second base. Lux and Jeimer Candelario are expected to share third base/DH to open the regular season, but lineup decisions will become trickier once Spencer Steer (shoulder) is ready to go.

Reds' Gavin Lux: Swats first spring homer
Lux started at third base and went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's spring game against Seattle.
Lux poked his first Cactus League homer in the second inning and has an .858 OPS through 16 spring games. He's played a lot of third base (11 starts) and figures to see ample time there in the regular season along with starts at second base and in left field. However, it may take a while to determine a pattern of who plays and when. Jeimer Candelario is expected to share third base with Lux and first base with Christian Encarnacion-Strand. Corner infield will get muddier once Spencer Steer (shoulder) is ready to play the field.

Reds' Gavin Lux: Produces run with legs
Lux started at third base and went 1-for-2 with a double, a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's spring game against Seattle.
Lux got the Reds on the board in the second inning. He doubled, stole third base and went home after an errant throw. Lux is not known as a prolific base stealer, but he's been successful on all three attempts over 14 games this spring. He's moved around the diamond during the Cactus League, including time in the outfield, but Lux could hold down a regular gig at third base in the regular season.
